A new option for growers to deliver at GrainFlow sites this year
by Chris Liston
New investment at GrainFlow sites is giving growers extra choice this year when storing and selling their grain and oilseeds.
A new Grower Delivery App is a simple online Grower Delivery Form, providing an alternative to filling in repetitive paper forms. Growers who wish to fill in the paper form as they did last year are able to do so.
The initiative will help streamline the processing of trucks at site and communicate quickly with drivers and growers allowing them to make decisions about what to do with their grain. It was piloted at our Birchip GrainFlow site last year and will be rolled out to the rest of our GrainFlow sites this year. It is a major investment in the future of these sites for growers and the local community.
Once the online form is submitted to signal a delivery, the GrainFlow site is able to prepare for the arrival of the truck. It also helps the site to understand when growers want to use the site, the segregations they need and to factor this information in to opening hours and equipment utilisation.
At site, the truck will be able to process efficiently through site, from sampling, weighing and unloading. There will be less need for drivers to leave their truck while on site, minimising their interaction with machinery and reducing the likelihood of potential incidents. An overall objective of the initiative is to make the site safer and more efficient for everyone.
Another feature of the web app is the quick communications of results to growers and drivers. Once the load has been sampled, an SMS will be immediately sent to the number nominated on the form allowing them to make a decision on what to do with the grain. An email will be sent to the NGR contact. A decision to warehouse the grain, sell the grain or request a resample can all be done by the click of a button.
While this is an important investment in the future of our sites and your agricultural supply chain, we know that it is a change for growers customers who will choose to use it this year. We will be providing information and support for all of our customers so they can feel confident in using the system, as well as providing for those customers who will opt for our traditional paper-based solution. We will include on-site support as well a hotline for any queries.
