Cargill is a major marketer of Australian grain and oilseeds servicing our own domestic processing requirements as well as domestic and international customers. We provide a range of differentiated price risk management and logistics solutions to help our customers succeed. Cargill’s extensive network of international trading offices provides access to world markets for Australian grain and oilseeds.
Cargill processes over 600,000 tonnes of canola, cottonseed, sunflower seed and soybeans annually in Australia to produce protein meal for animal feed and vegetable oil for foods such as margarine, salad dressings and frying.
In April 2003, Cargill Australia Limited and GrainCorp Operations Limited combined their grain and oilseed origination functions to form Australian Grain Accumulation Services Pty Ltd (AGA). AGA has an extensive field origination network with 17 regional offices spread throughout Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia. In early April 2009 GrainCorp announced a decision to voluntarily exit the joint venture due to the changing nature of the domestic and export grain market. AGA will continue as a wholly owned subsidiary of Cargill Australia under its current name and in its current form.
AGA acts as the buying agent for Allied Mills and Cargill for their grain and oilseeds. The establishment of AGA has provided the field origination network with an increased array of marketing options to offer, and has given farmers greater access to those options through the network of well trained field staff.
