Cargill welcomes the Albanese Government’s announcement to invest $1.1 billion to accelerate cleaner Australia fuel production
Cargill in Australia welcomes today’s Federal Government announcement to invest $1.1 billion to accelerate cleaner fuel production in Australia through the establishment of the new ten-year Cleaner Fuels Program.
This is an important milestone in establishing a domestic renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel sector in Australia.
Australian farmers are well placed to support and benefit from a biofuels sector in Australia as they already produce the required feedstock - canola, sorghum, tallow and sugar – to support domestic low carbon liquid fuels production.
A biofuels sector in Australia would create new markets for farmers, reduces farmers dependency on global uncertainties, support local manufacturing, provides significant tax revenues for the communities and help Australia meet its emissions reduction targets.
Cargill will continue to engage with the Federal Government & all stakeholders as Australia continues its journey to develop a low carbon liquid fuels sector.
