Cargill partners with Mars and Foodbank Australia to support Communities
Cargill Australia has partnered with Mars Food & Nutrition Australia and Foodbank Australia to help expand the provision of meals to Australian experiencing food insecurity.
As part of Mars Food and Nutrition’s Collaborative Supply program, Cargill is donating canola oil for the making of Dolmio products, that will be used to provide 4.4 million meals this year.
Cargill is Australia’s leading processor of canola oil in Australia, which is supplied to leading food businesses around Australia and in Asia.
General Manager of Food Enterprise for Cargill, Louise Perkins said “Cargill is delighted to be a sponsor of such an important initiative and work with Mars Food and Nutrition Australia, who is a long-term partner of Cargill. Food insecurity is a major issue, with a third of Australians experiencing food insecurity and Cargill plays an important role in the national and international food sector.
General Manager, Agriculture and Trading, Chris Liston said “Cargill sources canola from Australian farmers, and processes it and our crush facilities in Newcastle, Footscray and Narrabri, creating high quality food grade oil. I think everyone in the agriculture sector is proud to see how the quality produce that is grown and manufactured in this country goes to feeding the country. Ultimately, this is what agriculture is all about.
Cargill echoes the sentiments of Mars that as an industry, we have an” opportunity, and a responsibility, to contribute to solutions”. The program shows what’s possible when the entire supply chain comes together with a shared purpose.
